The walk this week is on Friday 27/12 and is the Barry Buddon Ranges Walk.
Walkers should meet at the car park opposite Carnoustie Station for a 10:00 start.
The walk is approximately 6 miles on tracks to Monifieth, where there will be the usual opportunity for festive refreshments in The Vault, before returning to Carnoustie by service bus. Spouses, friends are welcome.

This week's walk is based on Gella Bridge car park on the A955 Glen Clova road.

The walk leaves the car park and goes along the A955 for about a quarter of a mile before turning right up the track to Gella Farm. The walk continues past the farm and up to the crest of the hill where it turns left and goes north along the crest and over the summit of The Aud. It continues along the track round the head of Glen Cuilt and ascends Craigthran. It then descends on the west side of the hill and continue down the east flank of Glen Cuilt, crossing to the west flank of the glen via a bridge and returns to the car park via Gella Farm.
Around 8 miles with an ascent of 1200 feet.

The walks start from the Auchallater car park on the right-hand side of the A93 - approximately 6 miles past the ski centre.
The high-level walk takes us along the bank of the Callater Burn (which is also the north end of Jocks Road). We will bear right up the hillside of Creag nan Gabhar and continue on good tracks to the summit of Creag nan Gabhar (altitude of 834m), where we will have lunch. We will continue at high level along the crest of the hill, taking in the tops of Sron nan Gabhar and Sron Dubh before descending back to the car park. Around 8.5miles.
The low-level walk is to Loch Callater and around. Around 8 miles with an ascent of 700 feet ascent.

The walks this week start from the Glen Doll Car Park. There is a charge of £3.00 per car.

The high level walk follows the famous `Jock`s Road` to a point 1km past the shelter when it heads ENE passing Loch Esk and through the woods at Bachnagairn. From then the route follows the River South Esk back to the car park. Total distance 10 miles. Ascent 1880feet.
Those familiar with the route should note that there is a major change in the route in that the walk starts up Glen Doll but diverts into Corrie Fee before it continues up the west flank of Glen Doll until at the northerly tree line where the track now rejoins the original Jock's Road. This alteration does not detract from what was always a most enjoyable day out.
The low level walk is to Bachnagairn and return. Around 7 miles with an ascent of 950 feet.

From Clova Hotel we take the trail to Loch Brandy, then to the summits of The Snub and Green Hill, then descending to take the trail to Clova Hotel, taking a trail to the right that leads to a small bog and bridge over Corrie Burn and a track that finishes across the road from Milton of Clova Car Park. Around 6.5 miles with an ascent of 2,200 feet.

The walks this week start from the Glen Doll Car Park. There is a charge of £4.00 per car.

The long walk follows the Kilbo Path from the car park through the Glen Doll Forest and ascends Corrie Kilbo to a height of 840m, before swinging eastwards towards the summit of Driesh 940m. The return follows the same route as far as the top of the Kilbo path when the route descends by way of the Shank of Drumfollow as far as the tree line, where the route rejoins the original path back through the forest to the car park. Estimated distance 8.0 miles.
The short level will be from Glen Doll to Corrie Fee. Around 7 miles with an ascent of 1050 feet.

This week’s high level walk is based in Glenesk. Owing to limited parking in the glen, at the car park we will consolidate walkers into a few cars for the drive to the starting point of the walk. The walk will commence near Auchmull and circle Sturdy Hill. We will circumnavigate Craig of Weston and Maolearn before visiting Sturdy Hill. Return is via the eastern track back to the start point. The walk is around 7.5 miles with an ascent of 1500 feet.

This week’s walks start from the Invermark car park in Glenesk.

The long walk goes up the track through Auchronie farm and continues north up Badalair Hill. It then takes the track running off the uphill track in a SE direction and follows it through Lochylinn to the remains of the village of Stoneywell, where lunch may be taken. Thereafter it continues ESE to Dykefoot and joins the track running south from Arsallary and continues south to cross the confluence of the Burns of Calanach, Kirny and Milton. From the bridge it continues round the field to a gate in the top RH corner of the field. Thereafter the track improves and continues heading to the saddle between Hill of Milton and Cairn Robie. Through the saddle it keeps to the RHS track maintaining height at the 350m contour to skirt the uphill side of the small wooded area and then drops down to well defined track heading due west back to the car park. The walk is around 8 miles.
The short walk is to Arsallery.

In a change to the usual pattern, this week, the group will be taking a boat trip from Anstruther to the Isle of May.
Those interested must book their own tickets for the 12:30 sailing through Isle of May Pleasure Cruises - www.isleofmayferry.com. The boat takes 100 passengers. The cost is £33 for concessions.
We must be at the departure point 45 minutes before sailing – i.e. by 11:45 at the latest. The May Princess is moored up on the Middle Pier, which is just opposite The Scottish Fisheries Museum - Postcode, KY10 3AB. A temporary car park has been prepared behind the Co-op supermarket on the St Andrews Road just at the edge of the town on the B9131. The operator suggests to “please allow some additional time to get parked and reach the boat because of the inconvenience caused during this sailing season.” They suggest “it’s a 10-minute walk”, so we might aim to park at roughly 11:30 for the 12:30 sailing.

The walks this week are based on the village of Ceres, Fife.

The short walk leaves the car park via Woodburn Road that changes to track. At Denhead Farm we turn right, then straight over B939 onto the trail following the tracks that lead to the road where we turn right then left into Hill of Tarvit. From Hill of Tarvit, we head to the A916 and go straight ahead to Scotstarvit Tower and Chance Inn, then onto Craigrothie where we take the B939 back towards Ceres and turn right to Denhead Farm and to Ceres. Approx 5.75 miles.
The longer walk leaves the car park over the footbridge and follows the Craighall Den Circular. When we return to the car park, we take the same route as the short walk, plus the summit of Tarvit Hill. Approx 8.75 miles with an ascent of 1,150 feet.

Wednesday 10/04 -
The planned walks from Kirkmichael were cancelled due to the forecasts suggesting heavy rain.
Instead, we met at Dobbies, Monifieth and did a walk via the 7 arches viaduct to Balmossie, before turning East and walking into Monifieth and passed along by Ashludie golf course. We then took a track towards Balhungie before heading back to Dobbies for refreshments, and somehow managed to miss the predicted rain other than for the last mile or so.

The AGM will be held d on Wednesday 27/03, followed by a discussion to fix the walks for the next 3 months, followed by a walk round the northern perimeter of Carnoustie.
Please meet at Carnoustie Ladies Golf Club (where the BBQ was held last summer). Please use what3words and follow - soon.cloth.segregate. This will take you to the private off-street car park at the rear of the Clubhouse.
The actual timings on the day will depend on how long the meetings last, but the plan is for us to meet at 09:30 for the AGM, followed by the walk planning discussion. Please bring a snack and a drink with you and take them as the meetings progress. As soon as the meetings finish, we will leave as one group for our walk, leaving our rucksacks and lunches in the Clubhouse. The length of the walk will be tailored for us to be back at the Clubhouse for around 13:00, so we can all sit together for a social lunch.

The shorter walk, again devised by Mitch but lead by Anne Wilks, is also from Bogward Road, but then goes straight down the Canongate, and after the Botanic Gardens turns left up the cycle ramp onto Viaduct Walk. At the end before entering car park it turns left at Lade Braes Walk and returns to Craigtoun Park. Approx 5.5 miles with an ascent of 350 feet.

This week’s walk is from Carnoustie taking the coastline along Barry Buddon, then along the cycle path to Monifieth/Broughty Ferry.

The walk commences at 10:00.
Some may want to terminate the walk at Monifieth – around 6 miles.
Others may want to do the full walk to Brought Ferry – around 8.5 miles.
Remember to bring your bus passes.

The walks this week are based on Newport on Tay.

The walks commence at 10:00.
The longer walk is from Boat Braes Restaurant (the old Ferry Terminal) through Tayfield and along the Nature Trail to Wormit Hill. We will then head back by St Fort, across the A92 towards the Leng Memorial Chapel. We return to Newport by Easter Friarton, Inverdovat and Tayfield. Around 8.5 miles with an ascent of 600 feet.
The shorter route goes through Tayfield, across the A92, past Inverdovat and then to the Leng Memorial Chapel. We will then go past Wester Friarton, St Fort and head back to Newport along the Nature Trail. Around 6 miles with an ascent of 300 feet.

Wednesday 10/01 –
This week's walks will take in the centre and west end of Dundee.
Please meet at The Counting House, Wetherspoon’s, 67 Reform Street, Dundee, DD1 1SP at 10:00. There will be a short informal meeting to plan future walks before commencing the walks.
The longer walk is 8.5 miles and takes in Dudhope Park, Dundee Law (570 feet), Balgay Hill and returns via the Riverside.
The shorter walk is 7.5 miles and omits Dundee Law.
Both walks will pass some of the plaques on the trail that celebrate famous Dundee women. There is a map on this website https://www.dundeewomenstrail.org.uk and you can click on these numbers to find out more: 10, 11, 14, 15, 20 and 21.

This week’s walk will be the familiar walk from Gella car park, Glen Clova, led by Robin Grant. The walk will be about 7 miles and suitable for all abilities.
